Any attorney who wishes to exercise their rights to litigate under the 2012 Certification Rules will be expected to undertake relevant CPD activities on a sufficiently regular basis to ensure that their skills in that area are maintained.

Any attorney obtaining a Higher Courts Advocacy Certificate after passing an advocacy skills course or advocacy assessment must undertake at least five hours of CPD relating to the provision of advocacy services in the higher courts in each of the five full CPD years (1st January to 31st December) following the year in which the certificate was issued.
