Internal/External Governance Committee
The Governance Committee has two distinct functions; first to ensure that the Board discharges its obligations as regulator in accordance with the requirements of the Legal Service Board and the Legal Services Act 2007 and second to oversee the professional discharge of the administrative operations which support the work of the Board.
- examination and qualification for registration as a patent and/or trade mark attorney, including education and training for entrants to the patent and trade mark professions
- continuing professional development (CPD) for registered patent and trade mark attorneys
The primary aim of the Committee is to ensure that registered attorneys achieve and maintain an appropriately high educational and professional standard relevant to their practice as IP professionals in order to best serve the interests of the consumer. In discharging this role the Committee will seek to promote educational and professional best practice amongst providers and continuing access to the professions by people from a broad range of backgrounds.
