Ian Buchan

Ian is a consultant for Potter Clarkson LLP.  He has BSc (Hons) and MSc degrees and is a Registered UK and European Trademark Attorney, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, Fellow of The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys and a Board member of IPReg.

Ian read biochemistry at Edinburgh University and pharmacology at Hatfield Polytechnic. He worked in research for an international corporation before moving into trademarks and becoming manager of their trademarks department.

After a spell in private practice in Scotland, Ian joined Potter Clarkson in 1991 and became a partner in 1992. He joined the Board of Management in 2000 and retired in 2007. Ian was elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys in 1995 and served as its President from 2002-2004.
